Step into a Strange world...

Local author Lucy Strange is set to join our line-up of fabulous authors at the Maidstone LitFest. She is the award-winning and best-selling author of children's books such as The Secret of Nightingale Wood, Our Castle by the Sea, The Ghost of Gosswater, Sisters of the Lost Marsh, and The Mermaid in the Millpond.

Lucy expertly weaves the gothic and ghostly with history and folklore, creating atmospheric stories oozing with fantasy and mystery. Lucy's books are tipped to become the children's classics of the future.

"Beautiful, mysterious and atmospheric" – Katherine Woodfine

As a former teacher, Lucy knows how important it is to bring accessible and engaging stories to young readers, and to inspire in them a love of books and literature that will last a lifetime. The Mermaid in the Millpond is a dyslexia-friendly short story published by the award-winning team at Barrington Stoke, a small, independent children's publisher which has been pioneering super-readable, accessible stories for children for the last 25 years.

"Storytelling at its very best" – Kiran Millwood Hargrave

We are delighted that Lucy will be joining us at Maidstone LitFest, bringing a family event suitable for readers aged 9-14. Children aged 13 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Lucy is also launching a one-day creative writing course for aspiring writers of children's books which will be held on 19th July in Wye. For more information visit Lucy's website: www.lucystrange.org
