SF novelist and comic writer Dan Abnett talks about techniques for creating fantastic alien worlds, locations and characters, drawing on his experience writing for famous fictional universes like those of Marvel Comics, Warhammer and Doctor Who, and from inventing whole universes of his own. The informal talk will be followed by a Q&A and a signing.
Biography
Dan Abnett is a multiple New York Times bestselling author and an award-winning comic book writer. He has written more than fifty novels, and is especially celebrated for his Warhammer 40,000 fiction, including The Eisenhorn Trilogy, Gaunt’s Ghosts, Horus Rising, and The End And The Death. In comics, his run on The Guardians of the Galaxy for Marvel formed the inspiration for the blockbuster movies. He is a regular contributor to the UK’s long-running 2000AD, with such critically acclaimed series as Brink, The Out, Lawless and Sinister Dexter, and also writes extensively for the games industry. Dan lives and works in Maidstone, Kent, in the UK.
