Advice, knowledge and expert guidance for aspiring authors.

For many writers, the world of literary agents can feel difficult to access. What are agents really looking for? How do you make your submission stand out? And what actually happens when an agent decides they want to represent you?

Join Enrichetta Frezzato and Georgina Simmonds from Red Kite Literary for an illuminating look behind the scenes of the publishing industry.

Enrichetta specialises in children’s publishing, while Georgina represents authors writing for the adult market. Together, they’ll share the dos and don’ts of approaching an agent, their top tips for submitting your work, what catches their attention – and what doesn’t – and what happens after an agent says yes.

Whether you’re writing for children or adults, have a finished manuscript or are simply curious about the route to publication, this is a fantastic opportunity to hear directly from two industry experts and get practical, candid advice about taking that next step.

A limited number of separate one-to-one appointments with Enrichetta and Georgina are also available. Bookings for these appointments are to be made separately.

Originally from Italy, ENRICHETTA FREZZATO moved to the UK to complete a DPhil in Modern Languages at Oxford University. Before starting Red Kite Literary, she spent ten years at Curtis Brown, working both in translation rights and as primary agent. During her time there she worked closely with bestselling authors like Jojo Moyes, Douglas Stuart, David Mitchell, Andy Griffiths and literary estates like Dr Seuss and E.B. White, among others. At the same time she started building her own list representing UK-based and international writers and illustrators across adult and children’s.

GEORGINA SIMMONDS joined Red Kite Literary as agent and founding partner in May 2026. After finishing her English degree, she qualified as a solicitor specialising in commercial and IP law before moving into publishing at Curtis Brown over ten years ago. While there she was part of the contracts and rights teams, working with bestselling authors across both the Curtis Brown and ICM lists, including Haruki Murakami, John le Carré, Walter Isaacson and Hanya Yanagihara. She then moved to work at Madeleine Milburn Literary Agency as an associate rights agent before being promoted to agent. Most recently, she has been back sharpening her legal skills as in-house counsel for a multinational NGO. Georgina loves working closely with authors editorially, but also uses her legal background to advocate on their behalf and protect client interests.
