Uncover the Maidstone Connection to a Woman Who Shaped a Dynasty
Mother to a queen, grandmother to a king — Jacquetta of Luxembourg held the fate of the Plantagenet dynasty in her hands… don’t miss out on this eye-opening local connection!
Jacquetta of Luxembourg stood at the centre of the Wars of the Roses, a woman whose choices shaped the fate of dynasties. She witnessed the rise of the House of York, the fall of kings, and the dawn of the Tudor age — and her story has surprising roots right here in Maidstone.
This talk is led by historian and author Amanda Harvey Purse, whose latest book Henry’s Roses brings the overlooked women of the medieval court back into sharp focus. This event places Jacquetta centre stage — exploring her influence, her controversies, and why she deserves to be remembered.
The session includes a Q&A and book signing.
